A New Kind of Fall

It has been almost a year since I posted. We moved from our beautiful lush garden coast to the desert! Las Vegas to be exact. It is like living on the moon; a very dry state. It is amazing how a change in location and scene can change what one does during the day. I did not attempt to garden last year....although I know you can here. You just have to plan in a backwards way. Fall and Winter are like early and late Spring. Yesterday I bought one little cherry tomato plant. I was chicken enough to even buy it with little green tomatoes on it. Perhaps by mid October I will have a ripe red home-grown tomato!

So, here is to a new kind of Fall. No more golden apples, or red and brown crunchy leaves. No more chilly nights with chimney smoke filling the air. No more pumpkin patches or hay bail mazes. Instead, I will enjoy the 80 degree weather during the day; watching my tomato plant grow tall into the Winter. I will watch the twinkling lights of the Strip from my balcony while sipping a cool drink at twilight. This is my new home.
